The Secret to Living Your Perfectly Balanced Life

The Secret to Living Your Perfectly Balanced Life

Have you ever wished you have all the time in the world to do the things that you have to do and that you want to do? You are not alone.

In today’s fast-paced, often-stressful society, most of us wrestle in balancing our day-to-day schedules and activities. Work - Life Balance is a myth. It assumes work and life are separate and sort of implies that ‘work’ precedes ‘life’. That’s not what you were created for.

The first step in achieving your life balance is to realise work is just a part of life.

What is the perfect life balance?

It’s different for everyone, depending on your stage of life, interests and priorities. For me, it's about prioritising time, space and energy to ‘be’ everyone I need to be in all areas of my life.

Key ingredients for a balanced life:

  • Live as if it were your last day on earth: Value every second and be mindful of how you invest your time.
  • Intentionally invest time with the ones you love: Being intentional means doing something on purpose. Plan non-negotiable space into your calendar.
  • Value rest: You will never be the best version of you if you’re run down. Self-care is imperative.
  • Establish boundaries: Learn to say no appropriately. Remember, every time you say ‘yes’ to something you are saying ‘no’ to something else.

Instead of ‘trying’ to manage time, focus on these 3 things:

  1. Priority Management
  2. Environment Management
  3. Energy Management

To achieve life balance takes purpose, planning, support and accountability. Take back control of your life and enjoy ‘being’ instead of just doing.
