Are you one of those people who gets to the end of the week and feels like you've been run over by a truck?

Hi, this is Grant Herbert, leadership and sustainable performance coach, and today I want to finish our conversation around productivity by helping you manage your energy.

Energy is the third key thing that you need to manage. We've talked about managing your expectations and managing your environment. Now, energy is the most important of the three because the first two have a direct impact on this one.

Your energy is a finite resource. Every day, you start with a certain amount of energy, and every interaction, task, and experience either adds to or takes from your energy levels.

There are three key areas to focus on:

The first is your physical energy. This comes from the basics — sleep, nutrition, hydration, and movement. If you're not looking after your body, you won't have the physical energy to perform.

The second is your emotional energy. Every emotional interaction costs or restores emotional energy. Conflict drains it. Positive connections restore it.

The third is your mental energy. Decision fatigue, overthinking, and unresolved issues all drain your mental energy. Clarity, purpose, and focus all restore it.

When you manage your energy well, you are able to show up as the best version of yourself in every area of your life — at work and at home.

Well, that's it from me for another week. I'll see you then.
