Exposing the Emotional Blindspots that are Sabotaging Your Results

To be truly successful as a leader, we all need to learn how to recognise our blind spots and then take action to overcome them. Blind spots are those frustrating idiosyncrasies that are totally invisible to us, but excruciatingly obvious to everyone around us.

Emotional Self Awareness is noticing and being able to label your feelings and reactions; being able to connect these to their source; and recognising their effects on your mind and body.

People who lack emotional self awareness may:

  • Fail to gain insight from what their bodies are telling them.
  • Get irritated or angry easily, treating people abrasively.
  • Fail to see that what they are doing isn't aligned to their goals.
  • Often feel overwhelmed, stressed, and out of balance.

The benefits of developing this awareness:

  • Knowing which emotions you are feeling and why.
  • Realising the links between your feelings and what you think, say and do.
  • Recognising how your feelings are affecting your performance.

To develop your Emotional Self Awareness, regularly invest time to “check in” on your feelings. Ask yourself: “What am I feeling and why?”
